I wrote my first poem in high school.
Then I got busy with education, making a living, raising a family. Every once in a while I’d write a poem, mostly on airplanes.
In 2022 my partner of forty-two years died. I moved across the country to be close to family. And I had time on my hands, time to start writing again.
I have never been able to look away from spiritual questions.
Since high school I’ve been a joiner at church. Making music, joining whatever things are available to lay people. I became an Episcopalian in 1998. I’ve been an occasional lay preacher, and I have come to love the discipline of saying something worth of saying about scripture and life in about one thousand words.
On this site are some of my poems; mostly written recently; a few of my old “airplane” poems. Some of my sermons, and space for other things as I have time.
